Self-assessment tests

Personality assessments are common in all types of coaching. While no personality assessment can tell you exactly who you are, the results can serve as a guide to help you understand your goals, preferences, priorities and where you may need some help.

The VIA Character Strength Survey (Martin Seligman)

Developed for young people 10-17, this personality test examines a person’s values through their character strengths. Identifying these top strengths will help as a starting point for discussion about yourself and how different you can be from others. Take the free, 15-minute VIA Youth Survey here and read about each of the 24 character strengths via the Positive Psychology Toolkit.

The Grit Scale (Angela Duckworth)

A major predictor of success in life is grit, which according to Angela Duckworth, professor of psychology at the University of Penn, means “passion and perseverance towards a single and meaningful long term goal”. Take this free test to see how you score on the Grit Scale.
